In the workshop, hot issues of combined sewer overflow (CSO) are discussed by experts from government, business and academic sectors. Although a lot of countermeasures against CSO have been conducted, CSO problems are still unsolved. In Japan, implementation rate of CSO control plan still remains at a low 36% and there are growing concerns about the impact of CSO on receiving water. Therefore, it is very meaningful to exchange knowledge and experience on CSO control in Japan and Korea from different standpoints in the workshop. Not only evaluating the impact of CSO on receiving water but also effective control measures against CSO problems are discussed. We also deepen the understanding the current situation of CSO issues and discuss the necessary challenges to the future. By holding the workshop in association with the 4th IWA-ASPIRE Conference & Exhibition, the knowledge regarding CSO issue and its control in various countries could be shared. Additionally, researches and technology development for CSO control are also be discussed by the poster panels.
