Prof. Jianying Hu focuses on environmental toxicology, the identification and evaluation of toxic chemicals as well as their metabolic pathways in the environment and in human bodies. She employs high-throughput methods and organoid models to study the toxicity of trace hazardous xenobiotics and their ecological health risks.

Prof. Min Yang has served as the deputy director of the Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences (RCEES), Chinese Academy of Sciences for 12 years. His group pioneers in the identification and control of harmful pollutants in drinking water and wastewater, from taste/odor compounds to pathogens. He founded three research centers targeting urgent environmental problems in China, including North Research Center for Rural Area Wastewater Treatment, the CAS-TWAS Center of Excellence for Water and Environment, and the National Engineering Research Center of Industrial Wastewater Detoxification and Resource Recovery.
