[Lecture abstract]

Membrane is a reliable and worldwide-used technology applied in environmental issue such as water, wastewater, air pollution, solid waste, circular economy and net-zero emission. This presentation addresses some research result of photocatalytic membrane reactor, membrane bioreactor, membrane distillation, supported liquid membrane and gas separation membrane in environmental application.
In addition, this lecture will also share how the researches are an echo to policy. The topic focuses on net-zero related pollutants treatment and transformation, including: the application of plasma systems to transform waste into energy, industrial carbon dioxide and non-methane hydrocarbons emissions analysis, and the distribution of ultra-fine particles.

[Lecturers and their research]

Professor You is a director of Center for Environmental Risk Management of Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU), Taiwan. He is also list as the World's Top 2% Scientists 2020 to 2022-Lifelong Science Influence Rankings by Stanford University. His research focus on membrane application in environmental issue based on the strong research ability of the Membrane Research Center of CYCU. He published more than 150 papers, which related with photocatalytic membrane, membrane bioreactor, membrane distillation, supported liquid membrane, gas separation membrane, molecular biology, microplastic and circular economy, in the past 20 years. Now his research toward to total solution based thinking for net zero emission in environmental division.

Professor Wang is an accredited Professional Engineer and is the director of Sustainable Environmental Education Center of Chung Yuan Christian University, Taiwan. She has been the Deputy Miniter of Taiwan EPA, ever served as Secretary General of the Chinese Institute of Environmental Engineering, and the President of Taiwan Association of Aerosol Research. Her research focus on air pollution and waste utilization. In the past five years, she published 62 SCI papers. A paper on the sources, measurement and exposure of PM0.1 in Environ Res 2023 218:115061 published by her team was selected by Professor Paul Terry and Professor Jiangang Chen from the University of Tennessee in the well-known Faculty Opinions scientific community as excellent teaching materials.
