Dr. Duc Canh VU received his PhD degree from the Department of Urban Engineering at the University of Tokyo, Japan, in 2020. Then, he worked as a Research Fellow of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) at the Environmental Public Health Engineering Laboratory, University of Tokyo, between 2020 and 2024. Since 2024, he has been a postdoctoral researcher at the International Wastewater Epidemiology Laboratory, University of Tokyo. His research interests include a wide variety of topics in the field of health-related water microbiology, such as the development of concentration/detection methods for pathogenic viruses, waterborne pathogens during water/wastewater treatment processes, virus disinfection methods, and wastewater-based epidemiology (WBE).
Dr. Made Sandhyana ANGGA is a JSPS foreign research fellow at the International Wastewater Epidemiology Laboratory, University of Tokyo. He earned his PhD from the Department of Engineering at the University of Yamanashi in 2023, where his dissertation focused on developing rapid and sensitive concentration methods for pathogens in wastewater. His research interests include environmental virology, water and wastewater treatment processes, and wastewater-based epidemiology.
My name is Shusuke Araki, a senior undergraduate student in Urban Engineering. Driven by a desire to conduct research with a global perspective, I joined this lab for my graduation thesis. In the emerging field of "Wastewater-based Epidemiology," I devote all my passion in research that contributes to solving environmental health issues.
